This page explains what happens to personal data when you visit soil-sensors.co.ke. The short version: the site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and shows no advertising. Personal data is involved only where any web server records a request, where the typeface is loaded and where you use the contact form or write to us.
Who is responsible
The controller for this website is NuaSense Limited, Nairobi, Kenya, represented by Florian Härtl, Director. Contact: info@nuasense.com.
This policy covers soil-sensors.co.ke only. The other NuaSense websites and the NuaSense platform at platform.nuasense.com, where accounts and API keys are created, have their own privacy policies.
What this site collects
Server logs. When your browser requests a page, the web server records the IP address the request came from, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page if your browser sends one, the browser and operating system string, and the response status. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure: to detect abuse, to diagnose faults and to defend against attacks. They are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted. They are not joined to any other data and are not used to identify visitors.
Fonts. The typeface on this site is loaded from Google Fonts. When a page opens, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, and Google receives your IP address and the usual request details. Google states that it does not use font requests to build profiles and sets no cookies for them. We use Google Fonts on the basis of our legitimate interest in a consistent, fast-loading site.
Contact form. The contact form is processed by Formspree, Inc., a company in the United States. What you enter, such as your name, email address and message, is sent to Formspree together with your IP address and the time of submission. Formspree forwards it to our mailbox and keeps a copy on its own servers for a limited time under its own privacy policy. We use what you send us to answer your enquiry and for nothing else. If you would rather not use the form, you can email us directly.
WhatsApp and email links. Links to WhatsApp and to our email address open the app of your choice; nothing is sent until you write. Once you message us on WhatsApp, Meta's privacy policy applies to that conversation as well as ours.
Nothing else. The site sets no cookies and uses no local storage. There is no analytics or tracking script, no advertising, no embedded video, no newsletter and no social-media plug-in; the social icons in the footer are plain links. The blog has no comment function. Pages are static files; nothing about you is processed when they are built.
If you write to us
If you email or message us, we process what you send us, and your email address or phone number, to answer you. We keep the correspondence for as long as the matter is open and for a reasonable period after that, then delete it, unless a law requires us to keep it longer.
Legal basis
We are established in Kenya and process personal data under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to a visitor, the legal basis for the server logs and the font requests is our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f)), and the legal basis for answering a form submission or correspondence is that same interest or, where you are asking about a product or service, the steps needed to enter into a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
Hosting and where data goes
The site is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd. on servers in Lithuania, in the European Union. Server logs are therefore stored outside Kenya, in a jurisdiction whose data-protection law the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner recognises as adequate. Hostinger processes the logs on our behalf and under our instructions.
Font requests are answered by Google's global network and may be processed outside Kenya and the European Union. Form submissions go to Formspree in the United States. No other data leaves the site.
Links to other sites
The site links to the other NuaSense websites, to nuasense.com, platform.nuasense.com and agriculture-data.com, and in places to outside sources. Once you follow a link, the privacy policy of that site applies. We do not pass any information about you to a linked site; the only thing it may see is the referring address, and your browser decides whether to send it.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form where that applies. Because this site holds little about you beyond transient server logs and any message you sent, most requests will have a short answer. Write to the contact above.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority: in Kenya, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (odpc.go.ke); in the European Union, the data-protection authority of your country of residence.
Changes
If the site ever starts to collect more than described here, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
